The Mekem Strong Solomon Islands Fisheries (MSSIF) Programme is a partnership between New Zealand and Solomon Islands, implemented by the Solomon Islands Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR); with support from New Zealand International Aid and Development Programme (NZAID). MSSIF will support Solomon Island efforts towards economic development, sustainable use of resources, building livelihood opportunities and food security in rural areas

MSSIF support Solomon Islands efforts towards economic development, sustainable use of resources, building livelihood opportunities and food security in rural areas. The programme’s goals, objectives and outcomes all reflect Solomon Islands Government statement policies and priorities.

Support for the fisheries sector reflects the New Zealand Government’s priorities for development cooperation in Solomon Islands. MSSIF makes concrete New Zealand’s commitment to support fisheries and marine resources development set out in the New Zealand/ Solomon Islands Programme Strategy (2009-2018).
