The deployment of FAD is going on well according to Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Senior Fisheries Officer Lional Luda.
Speaking to Tuna Nius, he said he wants to cover Western Province and some parts of Guadalcanal before the end of the year.
So far, he had deployed FADs at Hatare (Marau) Aola, Longu, Toa (Gela), Nagotano (Gela), Louna (Russel) and Tiaro (Guadalcanal).
The areas he plans to visit before the end of the year are Vella La Vella, Vona Vona Lagoon and Rendova.
“I plan to visit Western Province towards the end of the month and wrap up my programme here on Guadalcanal and Makira,” he said.
While Luda is concentrating his effort on Guadalcanal, Western and Makira, his colleague Carlos Haikau is doing the Malaita round,
He is expected to visit Bita’ama, Folotana, Suava, East and South Malaita to deploy FADS and also raise awareness about the importance of looking after the equipment.
Deployment of FAD is one of the key priorities of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government and the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources is aggressively pursuing it to ensure this is implemented.
