Honiara, 21 October 2019: Offshore division staff of the Ministry of Fisheries have joined those from other Forum Fisheries Agency member countries in a series of workshops and meetings last week ahead of the Management Options Consultations Meetings (MOC) which will begin on the 28th to 31st October.

Dr Christian Ramofafia has been re-appointed as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources. His appointment was formalised last week when he was sworn in at the government House.

PORT MORESBY, 11 September 2019 – Media personnel in Papua New Guinea now have a better understanding of the significance and value of tuna fisheries after three days of a fisheries-related media workshop. The workshop was held from 9-11 September in Port Moresby and brought together around twenty journalists, as well as selected journalism students from Divine Word University in Madang.

The Governments of Japan and Solomon Islands have formalized a Grant Aid Agreement to support fisheries development programmes with the signing of documents in Honiara on Friday last week.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Aquaculture Division has hailed as success a three-day workshop it organised in Honiara recently to look at the future of Tilapia and seaweed in the country.
