Inshore Fisheries Division staff of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources will soon be carrying out stock status surveys in selected sites around the country to ascertain the population of certain key commercial marine species with the view to encourage local people to go into exporting of these marine resources.

A delegation made up of five officers from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR), the Mekem Strong Solomon Islands Fisheries Programme (MSSIF) and the Pacific Community (SPC) recently visited Timor Leste to view the development of the country’s Nile Tilapia hatchery and farming systems.
