The Ministry of Fisheries this week signed documents with representatives from the Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation of Japan (OFCF) for further funding support for the sea cucumber project.

The Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission annual meeting opened yesterday in Nadi, Fiji with a traditional Fijian welcome ceremony and a call by the organization’s chairperson to appreciate “the value of incremental progress” in the Commission’s decision making process for fisheries conservation and management.

Lily Wheatley, is a young graduate who joined the Ministry of Fisheries as its economist early this year. She graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Economics with Honours from Massey University in 2015.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has officially launched its website after nearly a year of development.

The site contains information from all the different divisions inside the ministry and it surely is a one stop shop for those looking for information on fisheries in Solomon Islands.
